Albert Moore Lectures (2017)

In connection with the exhibition Albert Moore: Of Beauty and Aesthetics at York Art Gallery, York Museums Trust hosted two ticketed lecture evenings in the Tempest Anderson Hall at the Yorkshire Museum in June and July 2017.

Professor Liz Prettejohn (University of York), one of the exhibitions co-curators, gave the first lecture on Thursday 22 June: ‘Albert Moore, the Pre-Raphaelites, and James McNeill Whistler’.

Professor Tim Barringer (Paul Mellon Professor of History of Art, Yale University and Honorary Visiting Professor, University of York) gave the second on Thursday 13 July. His lecture 'Aspiring to the Condition of Music: Albert Moore and Synaesthesia' was also one of the keynote papers of the conference Rethinking Albert Moore.
