Art Fund Lecture – Alma-Tadema: The Story of an Exhibition (2017)

York Medical Society Rooms, York, 19 July 2017

Professor Liz Prettejohn (University of York) gave a public lecture on ‘Alma-Tadema: The Story of an Exhibition’ at an event organised by York & East Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee for the Art Fund, on Wednesday 19 July 2017.

Professor Prettejohn was co-curator of the acclaimed exhibition Alma-Tadema: At Home in Antiquity, which had recently opened at Leighton House Museum, London, its third and final international venue.   During her talk, Professor Prettejohn revealed how the two London studio-houses created by artist Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836–1912) served as laboratories for his art-making, with particular reference to the exhibition.
